Kelsey Sucena, assistant professor of photography, attends International Trans* Studies Conference

Kelsey Sucena, assistant professor of photography in Alfred University’s School of Art & Design, attended the second annual International Trans* Studies Conference, held Sept. 4-7 in Evanston, IL.

Sucena said her attendance at the conference “helped bring depth to her research into trans culture and theory at a crucial moment in their (art) practice.” Sucena added she “brought back to Alfred deeper engagement in the field of trans* studies, new connections on and off campus, and a renewed vigor for Alfred’s own trans* community.”

The conference, organized by the International Transgender Studies Association (ITSA) brought together scholars from around the globe, across the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM, all of whom are committed to research on transgender and gender-minority issues.
